Thailand 2012

As I previously mentioned, I recently took a three week trip to Thailand. On this trip I lost my camera.. so all of my pictures are gone. Luckily I went with four amazing girls who took enough pictures to almost fill my broken heart. Nothing will ever replace your own pictures but here are some that are pretty close! Thailand is an amazing country, and I feel so blessed to have been able to experience so much culture in such a little time, it is definitely a place I plan on returning to very often! From crazy Pattong Beach, which I refer to as Las Vegas x 10, to the quieter Chiang Mai where everything moves a little slower and it feels natural to relax, Thailand caters to everyones personal idea of the perfect tropical getaway. So here is a little taste of some of that, and when I get more of the pictures I will be sure to post them!

South East Asia was my first trip overseas, as well as for any extended period of time. I’m the type of person with a ‘go big or go home’ mentality, so when people told me I should try something ‘closer to home’ or something for a ‘shorter’ amount of time, it only made me want to pursue this dream even more. Why would I sacrifice what I’ve wanted to do for many years to do something ‘safe’?! Clearly the people suggesting these things have 1 – never met me or 2 – know that Tiffany and ‘safe’ don’t really mesh well. So after going on this trip I am a firm believer of following your heart and not letting others convince you otherwise. Were there times on my trip where I dreamt of my comfy bed or the luxury of speaking my own language wherever I went? Of course! But did I ever wish I took others advice and went somewhere ‘safe’ or close to home? NEVER. The thrill getting on a plane and going somewhere so unknown and so different is one of the best feeling in the world! I have definitely gotten the travel bug, and have made a promise to myself to travel somewhere I have never been at least once a year. (If my wallet permits it of course.)

Random Ramblings..

This post is going to be short and sweet, and including new things I bought, want to buy and the return of the ever cheesy and crazy bachelor tonight ha.

So I don’t know about you… but with this weather change, my lips are being super bitchy. Peeling, chapping, cracking even BLEEDING! Bastards. Anyway, I happened to be in metrotown this morning for the first time in forever and had to stop in Sephora anyway. So I asked the girl if there was anything to stop this madness. Seriously I have some awesome lipstick and lipgloss to wear!! So she suggested a line called Sugar. I ended up buying the advanced therapy, for those like me who are almost a lost cause. My words, not the salesgirls. She also suggested an exfoliant scrub.. for your lips. What? But I figured, I’m basically a lost cause so I might as well try them both. The lip balm is amazing, and it should be for $26! It feels like butter on your lips! And I haven’t tried the scrub yet, but it smells like ice tea mix..odd.

Once I try this “scrub” I will let you know if it worked, you know because I’m pretty sure I’m not the only girl in Vancouver right now going through this stupid torture. Right?

This next picture is the best thing EVER and I will not be a complete human until I have them in my possession.

I am convinced that these, and these alone will contribute to my success at being active this year…. and therefore have justified the $180 price tag that goes along with them.

And now, I must go because my favourite train-wreck tv “love” show the bachelor has started and I need to pay attention to these idiots who go on tv to find “true love”, because what else is there to do on a Monday night?

My New Baby!

So, I recently went to Thailand for almost a month in November.. and I took about 1000 pictures! It was amazing. Unfortunately for me I’m destined for bad luck at the WORST times. And that’s not an exaggeration. So THREE DAYS before I am supposed to return home, I loose my friggen camera. I died. Everything from my whole trip was gone. :(

But luckily I am very used to my such “luck” so I got over it rather quickly without much of a fuss. I was still IN Thailand after all so I didn’t have that much to complain about. So when I returned I only had one thing on my christmas list. A new camera! I’ve wanted a DSLR for soooo long its ridiculous. I am however happy that I waited and didn’t buy it before my trip because the loss of my camera would have been devastating!

This is probably the most dramatic post ever, but honestly I dare any of you to go on the trip you’ve wanted to go on for years and take all these amazing photos then loose your camera. So I already knew exactly what camera I wanted, and was lucky enough to not only receive enough money and gift cards to afford it, but it happened to be Best Buy’s Boxing Day Door Crasher! So my $800 dollar Canon Rebel t3i was $539… but there’s more! It also came with ALL the accessories. Yeay me! I got a lense, two batteries, straps, cords and a bag!! Yeay me! Here it is..

Maybe loosing my camera was a blessing in disguise. Now I just have to register for that Photography class I’ve been talking about for so long…

Coffee Table Books!!

I’ve been re-decorating my home for what seems like forever. Thanks to my indecisive choice in decor I now am starting to believe I am a hoarder… of pictures and wall decor. I have wayyyy more stuff than I have walls. But after a year I FINALLY have a coffee table. Which brings me to the title of this post. I recently discovered that my classic style ALWAYS beats out my bohemian style in the end, and so I decided to decorate my awesome ottoman with some coffee table books.

Apparently there is an abundance of these at home sense, and since I received a gift card for christmas it seemed like the natural thing to purchase.

So here they are….

I chose VOGUE the Covers which is a book I’ve coveted for years… It’s pretty cool. EVERY Vogue cover since the beginning. (I’ve also eyed a super cute little set of Vogue books with Dior, Chanel and two other designers that I must have!)

I also got a really cool interior design book, and seeing how I’m ALWAYS redecorating I figured I could have some constant inspiration at my fingertips. Then I added in my Cupcakes and Cashmere book I already had and this months issue of Vogue, which I might add is the first one I have bought for pleasure since graduating from Blanche in 2007. Seriously, I think the amount of Vogue’s and Bazaar’s I bought and destroyed left some permanent damage.

There will probably be a bunch of decor posts this year, as it has easily become my new obsession. Up next is finding the perfect coffee tables and hallway table to re-finish!

My Goals for 2013

I never make ‘resolutions’ at the stroke of midnight on December 31, the success rates of sticking with one aren’t the most promising after all. I do however, think about what I want to accomplish in the year ahead. Sometimes it takes me a little longer than the first of the year to figure it out exactly but I get there eventually. This year I really want to focus on being my best self. Financially, personally and professionally. That being said I made a mental checklist of goals in each category that I want to accomplish, or at least work towards in the year ahead.

I won’t drone on about how successful I want to be in all these unrealistic “goals” ha but I WILL list them.. mostly so there out there in the world and maybe.. just maybe it will push me to actually do one of them? Here goes…..

1. Save money! I’m extremely horrible at this if you know me you’d agree
2. Make more money! then I won’t feel so bad spending more ;)
3. Be a better person… as in learn something new like photography or something.
4. Keep up with this blog.. I will do this i swear!
5. Go on 3 trips this year – (my goal is two small ones like vegas and new york and one big one)
6. GO TO A FESTIVAL!!! I don’t know how I haven’t accomplished this yet but if any of you are cool, like music and wanna check some out with me send me a message or something jesus.
7. Do something active like bootcamp again or yoga, so I can continue to eat like the fat girl I have living inside of me.

Anywho good luck in the new year and all that jazz….

Here’s to starting the year off with the highest optimism! Hopefully it sticks it out to the end.

Welcome!

I try and start a blog every year and never follow through. I guess I have something to say and want people to hear it? If my failing attempts at keeping up with blogging have been an indicator of the year to follow, then I’m dedicating myself to changing that, and keeping up with it!

I have no idea what I’m going to write about, I just know that I WANT to write, share my thoughts, my inspirations and my obsessions with you. My friends and strangers who will become friends.

Bare with me while I find my voice, things may be a little scattered for a while but I’m sure eventually I will find the reason I feel the constant need to start writing and one day it will be worth it!

Enjoy
